HSBC appoints Kate Morton as General Counsel in Channel Islands and Isle of Man

HSBC has appointed Kate Morton as General Counsel in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man.

In her new role, Kate will oversee the legal frameworks and manage the legal risks across the Bank’s operations in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

Having been with HSBC for more than 20 years, Kate has experience of working across multiple locations including various regions of the UK and Asia, supporting a broad range of divisions, including commercial banking, cash management and, for the last 14 years, wealth and personal banking.

Most recently, she was based in Hong Kong, where she was responsible for managing the legal risk surrounding the distribution of products to retail customers in ten countries across the Asia Pacific region. Whilst there, she also ran a project to significantly simplify customer facing legal terms.

Kate will be based in Jersey, and moves to the island with her husband and two children.

Commenting on her new appointment, Kate said: “Having worked across the UK and Asia over the past 22 years, I’m excited to be moving to a new environment. I’m very much looking forward to supporting our teams across the islands in delivering such a broad range of services to our customers. My family and I are also very happy to be moving to such a beautiful part of the world and we’re enjoying all that the islands have to offer.”
