Coin collection commemorates 140 years of Manx women’s suffrage

Tuesday 2 November in Community

A set of £2 coins has been released by The Treasury to honour the Isle of Man’s decision to grant women the right to vote. On 22nd March, 1881, the Island became the first nation in the world to allow women to attend the polls for House of Keys general elections. The coins feature some of the names of the first women who cast their vote. Islandlife spoke to Treasury member, Bill Henderson MLC, to find out more about the project.
