Hold back the flood – is Laxey’s river wall enough to weather the storm?

The Island’s flood defences are being put to the test this rainy season. It comes following the 2019 Laxey floods which left the village in deep water and residents stranded in their homes. Since then, flood protection measures including a river wall have been implemented by the Isle of Man Government and local authorities, with the aim of keeping the river within its banks. Islandlife’s Paul Moulton takes a closer look.
