Welcoming our new Governor - Lieutenant General Sir John Lorimer

Monday 27 September in Community

Ready to take up his five year term as Governor of the Isle of Man Lieutenant General Sir John Lorimer and his wife are welcomed by the First Deemster Andrew Corlett to Government House in Onchan. At the welcoming party Sir John Lorimer met with several MHK’s and key community players, and said a few words:

“The appointment of a Lieutenant Governor is hugely significant. I for one am looking forward hugely to our engaging with the community and you've already mentioned the importance of the community but also being the queen's representative on the island and to help promote the interests of the Isle of Man.

“We shall approach all our duties whether they're constitutional, ceremonial or community with energy, with humility, with humour but also with an overriding sense of responsibility for this ancient appointment”

Sir John Lorimer will be sworn in, this Wednesday, at a ceremony taking place at Castle Rushen. Get to know our new Governor a little better by checking out the full video by Islandlife.im
