Mike Henthorn Cruse Memorial Golf Day raises £12,000 thanks to Celton Manx support

Tuesday 1 June in Sport

The 2021 Mike Henthorn Cruse Memorial Golf Day has raised £12,000.

The event was supported for the 10th year in succession by Celton Manx and held at Peel Golf Club in aid of Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man.

The day attracted 24 teams, with Andrew Moody, Michael Moore, Mark Potts and John Reynolds emerging the winning team with a net score of 52.2.

Ahead of the prize presentations Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man chairman Sam Skelton said that thanks to the long-standing support of Celton Manx the charity had benefited by some £90,000 as a direct result of the golf days. He added that the late Mike Henthorn continued to be much missed, both as an ardent supporter of the charity and as a friend and colleague. In closing he said he was delighted that the ‘Henthorn legacy’ was continuing, with Mike Henthorn’s widow, Janet, presenting the prizes and his son, Mark, serving as a Cruse volunteer.

Celton Manx executive director Bill Mummery said: ‘It’s always a privilege and a pleasure to be associated with Cruse and its golf day, an event which is a firm fixture in our calendar.

‘All charities are having to struggle with the impact of Covid on their service provision and, crucially, on their finances. I’m therefore delighted that the Cruse team are successfully navigating their way through the pandemic and continuing to deliver consistently dedicated care under relentlessly challenging circumstances. I am also pleased to confirm that Celton Manx will be supporting the 2022 Mike Henthorn Cruse Memorial Golf Day.’
